Friday
This turned out to be very slow day. I talked to Fred in the morning and then that was it for Internet connection. I worked on my journal and then went to lunch with the girls at a café that has Internet. (They are both feeling much better and did take another Acisdlphis before bed.) Both Halla and I took our laptops. We were there about 2 hours, eating, several cups of coffee/tea, and catching up on email and posting our blogs. It was there that I realized that it was 2 PM and I hadn’t heard from Nibal about visiting Nadia or my trip to Alexandria. She didn’t answer my call and there was no voice mail option, so I sent her a text message. An hour later I get a text reply “ I am so sorry, at hospital, father has to have operation now, send you address and I will arrange tour.” This trip has seen several plans detoured by surprise and unpleasant events! Having cared for aging parents, I understand her priorities and am grateful she is willing to set me up under these circumstances. Since I only have Saturday to go to Alexandria, I send her my address along with prayers for her father, and hope for the best. Sure enough, within about 30 minutes, I receive a call from Manal, my guide for Alexandria and we confirm my pickup time. I immediately send Nibal a text message that my tour is set, thank you, and please let me know how her father is, and more prayers for the family.
Back at the flat, Annieck, Halla, and I cook dinner and eat. We also place an order for a beer delivery. The girls need to take beer with them to their party tonight, I think I’ll enjoy one in front of the TV and get to bed early. Manal will be picking me up at 7 AM to go to Alexandria.
