Friday, 2/13

2/13

Friday I am up before the girls as usual. It is nice to sit in the quiet, catch up on email, my journal, and get a few projects done like wash. I even washed the kitchen floor and the floor in my room to get rid of the weeks worth of dust.

Wash takes a while; about 2 hours just to wash 1 small load. The machine is a very small front loader and at least now it drains into the bathroom sink and not on the floor around the toilet --which it did before the repair men came and fixed few things. We were especially glad the were able to fix the spin cycle as our clothes were coming out dripping wet and we were afraid that we would have to wring them by hand. We have no dryer so everything has to hang dry. We have rigged a couple of places to hang smaller things in the apartment, but things like sheets and towels need to be hung on the line off the balcony. Before I could do that, I had to wash the clotheslines and the clothespins of Cairo dust or I would have had gray lines and marks on my clean wash. Also, you don’t want to hang anything too close to the tree as the leaves are thick with dust and sure to be all over what you just spent 2 hours getting clean. Even though Cairo is dry, it takes all day and some for the wash to dry. All this means that you need to plan ahead if you have plans to wear something, especially jeans, or need a towel to take a shower.

I stayed in Friday night. Nicole had work to do and even the girls stayed in. I spent most of the evening trying find a way to make my pictures smaller to post on my blog. My new computer photo program doesn’t seem to have a resize feature and I try several futile work-a-rounds like emailing them to a different email account, which the program will do, and then copying them back but can’t find the way to download attachments with the “new improved upgrades” Comcast has done to my email! In all this I stumble across Picasa and download it. Now with 2 clicks I have uploaded my photos at last!!!
